Studio Policies

At Chris Collins Dance Studio, we strive to provide the best dance education. During the first few classes the instructor will be observing closely all dancers to ensure everyone is placed in the appropriate level. The Instructor along with the Studio Director strive to provide the best education while instilling a love for dance.

Our studio provides a warm nurturing environment and is very family oriented. Chris Collins and his dedicated staff of certified instructors work to provide a quality dance education for all ages. It is our goal that students enjoy dance while learning proper technique. Other benefits include physical conditioning, the development of poise, confidence, coordination, and rhythm. Below are our studio policies and look forward to extending our family of dancers and sharing in our joy of dance. See you in class!

WE MEASURE SUCCESS IN SMILES!

Studio policies are outlined within our registration agreement and website. Studio Policy should be kept for future reference. It is expected that all students will conform to the rules of the studio and behave in a manner courteous to staff and fellow students. Absolutely no one should be in dance rooms unless invited by the teacher. Teachers cannot easily talk with parents between classes. If you need to speak with a teacher, please leave a message in the office and they will be happy to call you. Updated information about our dance studio is always available on our website.

Note: Promptly notify us of any change of phone or address.

Additionally, students are sometimes photographed or videotaped while participating in class, events, performances, or recital. This is usually done by studio faculty or parents. Performance photographers and event director will occasionally take photographs or videotape, which may be used to promote the event. Occasionally, the studio newsletter may incorporate photographs in publications. Some classroom activities also may involve photographing or videotaping of students for teaching opportunity. Should you wish to opt your student out of photographs or electronic publishing in Chris Collins Dance Studio, please contact a staff member. It's important to note that opting out of photographs does not include photographs or videos taken by event contracted professionals, event director or parents while attending public events.

The Student Waiver & Release of Liability Statement accepted online is as follows:

I will review Chris Collins Dance Studio, Inc. policies and will take the responsibility to carefully read and follow the rules and policies therein. I understand that Chris Collins Dance Studio does not give credit and/or refunds for class(es) missed due to holiday, vacation, illness, weather, etc. All students and parents should recognize there is a risk of illness or injury inherent in any exercise, gymnastics or dance program. Further, no program of strenuous exercise should be undertaken contrary to the advice of a physician, or while suffering from any illness. All students should consult their physician before beginning any program of strenuous physical activity such as exercise, acrobatics or dance.

I understand Chris Collins Dance Studio, Inc. is responsible for students during class time only. I hereby release, acquit, and agree to indemnify and hold harmless Chris Collins Dance Studio Inc., its employees, agents, and its successors and assigns from any liability or claims of any kind whatsoever resulting or arising from my participation in any programs offered or sponsored by Chris Collins Dance Studio, Inc., or the participation therein of any of my children.

Regular consistent attendance in all classes is imperative! If you miss class, notify the dance studio office directly by phone in advance of your absence. We do not check Email during class hours. Please do not notify by way of instructors or other students. If you know in advance that you have a conflict and will not be in classes or at a rehearsal, turn in written notice to the office as far in advance as possible. This does not mean the absence is excused. It is quite possible that students who miss could be removed from part or all of a routine that is being rehearsed.

Parents and Students - Please remember to keep everything on any social media site positive– especially where it pertains to our Dance Studio, Students, and Staff. Never post anything that could compromise self-esteem of any student. Negative or inappropriate language or inappropriate postings on a social media site will not be tolerated. If you post videos of any choreography, you must have the teacher’s permission first unless it is in our Dancers closed group. Students and parents represent our studio on and off stage in a positive way.

In the event of bad weather, the Chris Collins Dance Studio will usually follow the policy of the public schools if they are released early or closed for the day. Recordings will be updated on the main studio line if classes are cancelled. Individuals, who choose to, may arrange makeup lessons with the instructors.

As a reminder payments declined are subject to an administrative late fee of $25.00. Additionally, at checkout you will be charged an automatic one time $50.00 per year per family Registration Fee. (Read the "Tuition" policy for further information)

Families may pay on-line, either electing autopay or one-time payment options. If you elect autopay please note that you will be unable to remove yourself from autopay. If you wish to discontinue autopay plan and do month to month payments, please come into the office and we will work with you. While you have been enrolled in a payment plan, your current balance does not yet reflect all the payments that are due now, nor does it reflect any discounts. We will adjust your balance due, and we will charge your card accordingly.

IMPORTANT: To finalize your enrollment and reserve the new classes, you must continue through the online prompted steps and get to the THANK YOU page. This is true for everyone -- even if you have a credit or zero-dollar balance; even if you are already on the automatic/recurring payment plan. You must press the next button to continue.

If you do not finish the checkout process, Studio Director will drop you from any class you have chosen at the close of business. This will result in you needing to choose the classes again. Classes do fill up quickly so make sure you save a spot by finishing the checkout process.

All students are required to wear proper dance attire to all lessons (i.e., leotard, tights, and correct shoes).

Female students must wear solid color leotards with pink or suntan tights. At the discretion of the teacher, in some classes (e.g., Hip Hop) instructors may allow students to wear black shorts or sweatpants with their leotard. To enable instructors to see proper body alignment, avoid wearing clothing over leotards.

Male Students will be informed by teachers of proper attire.

Students may start the year in any dance shoes that fit from last season. Most dance shoes are available through the studio. If you choose to purchase them elsewhere, be sure to get the correct style and color. The size of a dance shoe does not always correspond to the size of a street shoe.

Be sure to write student's name in all shoes.

Dance Company members will recieve separate information.

Our annual SHOWTIME productions are held in June each year. Specific dates will be announced in the fall. No students are required to participate in the recital; however, for most it is the highlight of the year. After a student has worked hard all year, it is a feeling of personal accomplishment to perform on stage beautifully costumed before family and friends. This special stage experience also helps with confidence, poise, and personality. STUDENTS MUST PLACE A NON-REFUNDABLE COSTUME DEPOSIT IN OCTOBER. Late Orders will have separate shipping and handling fees. The balance is due on all orders in February. Once your order is placed and deposit is received, orders cannot be canceled and students are liable for balance due. RECITAL PRODUCTION FEE, which will include two tickets to the show, will also be due with costume order. More details will be available regarding costume and recital during fall parent week.
