On June
26, 2010, Rachel Bastianelli became the 34th student in Chris Collins
Dance Studio’s history to earn the title “Student of the Year”.
"Rachel
Bastianelli epitomizes what I look for in a Student of the Year. It has been
wonderful watching her grow up in our dance studio. I have seen such growth in
her as a dancer and performer. I remember her as a very quiet and shy little
preschooler – but one who always had intense focus," director, Chris Collins
said.
As
she grew up, Rachel worked hard in all her dance subjects. She showed great
effort to all her teachers. It was obvious from a very young age, that Rachel
had the gift of natural ability and she was invited to be a part of our young
dance company. As hard as Rachel worked on her dance technique, she was still
somewhat shy in the company classes. "Although she still lacked a little
confidence in performing, I remember suggesting her to try a solo for the first
time. She executed her first solo routine so well, but, was still a little shy
in the performance," continued Collins.
As the
years continued, Rachel matured into a beautiful, confident young lady who is a
leader within her own dance classes. Once Rachel started to emerge from her
shell - there was no turning back! She is a student teacher and quite an
inspiration and role model to so many of our younger students. Rachel truly
loves to dance and dances from the heart! "I am proud to add her name to our
list of Students of the year!" Collins stated.
Along with the title of the 2010 Student of the Year, Rachel receives
the prestigious Bill Collins Scholarship. The scholarship awards
Rachel with free tuition for the 2010-2011 dance year. Chris Collins
knows that his father would be proud of Rachel's hard work, and continued love
of dance.
