On
June 22, 2008, Paige Darlington became the 32nd student to earn the
crown as the Chris Collins Dance Studio's student of the year.
"Paige
has been a part of our studio since she was three years old. When
she started with the studio, I still taught all of the three year
old classes myself. I remember her as being one of the tiniest in
the class. It is amazing to watch students grow up before my eyes,"
said studio director, Chris Collins. "With Paige, things did not
always come easy when she was a young student. She has shown real
perseverance, as well as a lot of enthusiasm, through the years.
When Paige was in middle school, she became a part of our dance
company. "
Paige's dedication to dance doesn't end at the studio. In addition
to being enrolled in the dance program at West Potomac High School,
Paige is also the captain of the school's dance team. While she is
kept very busy with all of her commitments, she has shown impressive
time management, and hardly ever misses a class. This is quite
impressive, considering Paige is at the dance studio 5 days a week!
Collins added, "I really believe that the more Paige danced and
performed, the better she got. She has really grown as a dancer in
recent years and is definitely a great all-around student in her
classes. More recently, she has not only been dancing with us, but
sharing her talents by assisting our staff and inspiring new young
students."
Along with the title of the 2008 Student of the Year, Paige receives
the prestigious Bill Collins Scholarship. The scholarship awards
Paige with free tuition for the 2008-2009 dance year. This honor is
especially meaningful to Paige, as she has many fond memories of Mr.
Bill fitting her shoes, and she definitely shares his love of
entertainment!
